Dr. Elizabeth Johnson has known she wanted to be a veterinarian since the age of five, and that lifelong passion shines through in the way she cares for every pet and client she meets. As the owner of Jermantown Animal Hospital since 2021, she has created a welcoming, compassionate environment where pets feel safe and clients feel truly heard.
Dr. Johnson is known for her gentle, attentive approach. She carefully reads each pet’s body language and is Elite Fear Free Certified and Cat Friendly Certified, allowing her to provide low-stress, anxiety-reducing care. Her goal is to make every visit as calm and positive as possible for both pets and their people.
With over 20 years of experience, she combines strong medical expertise with clear communication, helping clients understand their pet’s condition and feel confident in their decisions. She has a special interest in ultrasound and enjoys thinking creatively to find the best solutions.
As a graduate of Virginia Tech and the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Johnson is also a leader in the veterinary community. She currently serves as Treasurer of the Northern Virginia Veterinary Medical Association and previously held the role of Secretary. She’s passionate about growth, not just for herself but for her team and colleagues as well, and facilitates a veterinary book club focused on leadership development.
Outside of work, she enjoys horseback riding, painting, gardening, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Johnson’s mission is simple: to partner with you in giving your pet the healthiest, happiest life possible.
